Students

You cannot expect to achieve success by relying on old or current sets of tools and skills.

“The reality is that web-based tools and resources have changed the landscape of learning. Students now have at their finger tips unlimited access to digital content, resources, experts, databases and communities of interest” (Bring your own devices: a guide for schools)

So what’s all they hype? Here’s a video that will help explain what RSS will look like in September.

With the blended model, Rossland Secondary School will have the ability to offer more than most schools in BC – more courses and more options within courses resulting in a better personalized learning environment.
Hear what students and teachers think about blended learning, only two months in.

With uncertainty comes opportunity.

Take a look at The Day In A Life of A Student for an example of what your day may resemble.

Is this an alternate school that has severe learning/behavior category students?

No, this is not an alternate school. RSS has been ranked as one of the top three high schools in British Columbia. Of course we have a wide range of students with a variety of learning needs. Feel free to contact me at nkuhn@sd20.bc.ca for more information or questions.

Yeah, just reinventing the free schools of the 1960s. There is nothing new under the sun, so why pretend?

Technology has allowed us to do a few things that weren’t possible in the 60’s though. It isn’t used for glitz but to create communities of learners online and face to face, as well as connect their learning to a global community.
